It was a week spent doing little and accomplishing less. D dropped me off at my son's on Sunday; after a short visit she headed home as it was cold and windy so with blowing snow the visibility on the highway wasn't great. I didn't relax until I knew they were safe at home.
Monday was a complete opposite to the day prior. The temperature rose overnight and by 8 a.m. it was a balmy 2C/34F. I walked to the nearby mall, a walk shortened by a pedestrian overpass (I'm sure there is a specific name for it but I can't recall it) over a busy highway. I desperately needed a haircut and the salon takes walk-ins, though I was at their door at opening time there was someone more eager than I waiting. However there were two hairdressers so I was in and out quickly. When you tell them to cut it short it doesn't take long. After a quick stop for a fast food breakfast I walked home. The sun was coming up as I headed out. So pretty!
I was able to get in a visit with my friend K on Tuesday. She picked me up around 9:30 and we spent a couple of hours chatting. We never run out of things to talk about. There was talk of trips friends are on, plans for trips, my time thus far in Yuma and of course, the state of the world. Her partner, Jim suffered a retina tear just before Christmas and had an appointment later in the day for a laser repair. I called that evening and all went well. Now they can make plans for their ski trip in a few weeks.
Most of my down time this week was spent watching curling (various men's and women's provincial playdowns) and IHF Junior hockey. I ought to have brought a crochet hook with me as I still have a stash of yarn here. I could have been working on something as I watched. Though I did find myself streaming curling on my tablet while streaming hockey on the television at one point in New Year's Eve, I was in bed and asleep by 10:30 p.m. I won't necessarily day I was bored but it was borderline.
New Year's day brought a break from hockey so I watched curling and kept an eye on college football. B and I put together a batch of dough for buns and she made a lot of chili for dinner. She was busy starting the year off tidying and organizing her space in the basement.
Friday I had a load of laundry to do and finished packing my backpack. My flight doesn't leave until noon on Saturday but I'll need to be at the airport by 10 a.m. I am hoping that the delays and cancellations that have happened earlier this week will have been sorted out. The storms in Ontario caused havoc causing disruptions in schedules. My older brother was flying to Palm Springs from Edmonton on Tuesday. He received a notification at 4a.m. that his direct flight was cancelled. After some time on the phone he was able to get a flight from Edmonton to Calgary where he had a five hour delay before he got another flight to Palm Springs. I'll be posting this before I leave for the airport so fingers crossed I don't have th a similar experience.
Oh, I should mention the geranium ( Wednesday's photo) is my daughter's successful attempt to over winter it. She's had the plant for 3 years now! Normally it doesn't bloom but apparently it is happy in that spot. It is nice to have something green and blooming in the depths of winter.
Have a great week ahead everyone!

Hope you make it back to warmth!
